Talking Dog from TikTok
Sheepadoodle from Tacoma has become a star known as
@what_about_bunny on TikTok thanks to learning how to talk. Her account has 5.7M followers and continues to grow.
All of the videos on her profile show her learning process and impressive results. Divine, the dog’s owner, uses a game board with buttons that sound out words.
At first, the pet’s vocabulary contained about ten words, but now her talking platform is more like a keyboard. Sometimes the pet wants to say one thing but hits another button. In any case, each clip is accompanied by subtitles.
In one video, for example, Bunny presses the “who” and “this” buttons and looks in the mirror afterward. If you imagine that this could be a conscious question, it even gets a little creepy.
Divine is confident that the dog understands what he’s doing, yet it’s hard to talk about real communication. Most everyday situations in which we interact with a pet are fairly predictable and trivial. It allows us to guess what Bunny wants and relate it to the words she “said.”
Perhaps more research could explain why a dog chooses certain words and what motivates it. Perhaps dogs could reach a new level of communication with us through such a method?
We’ve written before about how dogs communicate with each other and how dogs communicate with us. If they knew how to use the word buttons, perhaps this article would be written by pets.
